Who Is In Control?

thankfully, not me! who are we to know what God has for us? let’s approach each day, not decided on what we have to do, but rather what He wants us to do as we take care of the responsibilities He has placed before us. there isn’t anything that can come our way that can shake us, if we are firmly planted in Him!

He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭112:7‬

You’ve Got This

ever wanted something so badly that you, if you were honest, almost (if not completely) took the reins from God? how far does that get us? … not far. in fact, some times we end up moving backwards.

a recent, brief conversation between me and God:
[little] me: alright God, I’m back.
[big] Him: alright then, now let Me do it.

Just as you cannot understand the path of the wind or the mystery of a tiny baby growing in its mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the activity of God, who does all things.
Ecclesiastes‬ ‭11:5‬

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
Psalm‬ ‭27:14‬

At Your Feet

many years ago, the worship leader I was playing under asked each member of the band to write a song. I thought, “yeah right, there’s no way I can do this. I’m not a writer or a true musician. plus, he’s not going to make me do it, I’m his wife, I’ve got pull baby!”
boy, was I wrong. I was not just the only one to complete the assignment but it was then I realized it’s not about me! it’s not about what I think I’m capable of. it’s about what the Lord knows He can do through me!
just this morning (sum 15 years later and in a completely different season in my life) I was reminded how, even then when I read the Bible, one verse can penetrate my soul if I took the time to let it. this song was birthed from one verse:
You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing. Psalm‬ ‭145:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

nothing ever came of this song (I still hesitate to call it that) but it’s a great reminder of how He wants to fill our every need… if we’d just let Him!

At Your Feet

Verse 1
Life can be so hard
When I carry this load myself
How easy it would be
If I’d just trust You at Your word
You’d open Your hand to me
And give me everything I need
So why don’t I …

Drop it at Your feet
So You can heal me from my pain
Look to You for help
And You can bless me Your way

Verse 2
You’re the only one
Who can take these burdens I bear
You remind me through Your word
That you are in control
Father please help me to let go
Of the things that hold me down
Cuz I want to …

Drop it at Your feet
So You can heal me from my pain
Look to You for help
And You can bless me Your way

It sounds so easy
It sounds so simple
If that’s the truth
Then why can’t I just …

Drop it at Your feet
So You can heal me from my pain
Look to You for help
And You can bless me Your way

if there is one thing I consistently have trouble with it’s listening to “the voice within me” when it comes to things I think are well within my own control. things that please me or things that would make others look at me with admiration. let’s just get real here, when’s the last time you wanted to do something you knew would make someone else happy but just knew the answer should be no? by all indications, what you want to do is “good” so why not, right? wrong! I know I can’t possibly look at the big picture as God does and for whatever reason, if He’s telling me no, I need to learn to listen. when the only thing stopping me from doing something is the simple fact that I don’t want to say no; I need to say no … even if it makes no sense to me!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ NIV)
