“But What?”

we have excuses for everything, don’t we? especially when we are wronged or hurt by others. our initial, human response is to return to them “what they’ve got coming!”

in a word … don’t!

there is no excuse that makes us qualified to judge the situation. we have the perfect example of a Man, in His own right, who could have fought back, but didn’t!

He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.
1 Peter‬ ‭2:23‬

Is It Enough?

… to ‘just’ pray when:

* your adult children falter
* someone you love hurts and physically you can do nothing
* you’ve hurt someone
* you’re hurting
* words escape
* circumstances are beyond your control
* tragedy strikes
* listening ears disappear

this list can go on and on, especially in a world where there is now so much hate. this hate trickles into areas it has no right being. it’s not a secret that satan rules this world but take heart the Lord has overcome it All!

so to answer the question, Yes! prayer is enough, even if we feel we want to do more. prayer changes things. not always the circumstance, but most definitely how we view it!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6-7‬

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:8‬

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
‭‭John‬ ‭16:33‬

The “god” Made Me Do It

lower case g, of course. we all know the saying uses the word “devil” and yes, here I use them synonymously. because let’s be realistic, whatever we have made a god in our lives, is what satan will use against us to steal us from what the true God has planned for us. so be careful what you put above God, good or bad, because the devil will use it.
what I want never to be true is “the devil made me do it”

The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭NIV‬

Lookin’ For Love

as I reflect on my upcoming (what I used to reference as) Love Language Day, I think about how important it is to know and speak the love language of the people who mean the most to us. I’m not a big endorser of books (mainly because reading isn’t a passion of mine) but The Five Love Language concept (by Gary Chapman) is one I firmly stand behind. when we not only learn but are able to truly speak the love languages of our partner, kids, family members and friends, we keep them from looking elsewhere to fill their proverbial “love tank”. I, for one, don’t want my loved ones “lookin’ for love in all the wrong places”

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. (‭1 Peter‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬ NIV)

Motion Sickness

today is a “going through the motions” kinda day. whether it’s a lingering result of the time change or the fact that some areas of life can just be so hard sometimes… the way to get through it remains the same: stand firm in Christ, the only Redeemer! read and re-read encouraging words from the Word and believe this too shall pass! know with confidence He will be with me every step and work out in me all He deems relevant! and pray, even if the only words that can be mustered are please help!

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭6-9‬ NIV)
