there is so much (too much if you ask me) debate these days over the bible, its meaning, its translations over the centuries and its relevance for today. although most of you know where i sit on this, i’ll try my best to steer away from my thoughts on the topic and what i believe He has revealed to me.
but i will say one thing that has been a mini revelation to me. we talk about Psalm 119:11 when the author writes how he hid the Word in his heart “that I might not sin against you.” and yet the “written” word hadn’t been penned yet. hmm, got me thinking…
if Jesus equals the Word as the bible says He does in John … it seems logical that it is Him we should be “hiding” in our hearts. not necessarily the written word, seeing as the author of this particular Psalm hadn’t even had it (the bible) to refer to when writing.
for me, i’m hiding love in my heart. Jesus, Himself, said the greatest command is to love Him and love others. He IS love! if i love, all else will fall into place as He deems fitting!
Amen and thank you Jesus that the only translation of the Word that is completely accurate is quite simply, You!
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
