summer is a time of vacationing. taking time away from the daily grind to escape the rat race most of us find ourselves in. doing activities we aren’t able to do because normal life doesn’t allow the time. some of us are lucky if we can find 10mins of free time a day, so vacationing has even more meaning. it allows us to do what we love best!
what’s your definition of vacation? what do you like to do? how is your vacation time spent? better yet … do you take your bible?
last week as I was house sitting, I had some valuable time alone. and as I was reading, I stumbled across this quote by Os Hillman,
“We wrongfully think that we do not need to spend time with the Lord during leisure times. This is a grave mistake. The vacation becomes a test of character. During vacations we turn freely to what we love most. It reveals to us what is at the core of our existence.”
to that I say AMEN!
“Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates,”
Deuteronomy 11:18-20 NIV
