By Our Love

I recently stumbled across an interesting quote by a man named Roger, “I actually prefer to call myself a Christian as I’m seeking to reclaim the word from the fundamentalist and the conservative evangelicals who’ve effectively hijacked that word for the past 40 years.”

I hesitate in calling myself a Christian for the simple reason of not wanting to be lumped in with a group that think they have it one up on everyone else. allowing them [they think] to cast judgement on anyone not like them. Instead I will hold my head up high [as a Christ-follower aka Christian] and do as this old song I learned as a kid says “they’ll know we are Christians by our love, by our love. yes, they’ll know we are Christians by our love”

Jesus said, “The first in importance is, ‘Listen, Israel: The Lord your God is one; so love the Lord God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence and energy.’ And here is the second: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ There is no other commandment that ranks with these.” (Mark 12:29-31 MSG)
