I’ve known people to be very stingy. take for instance something as simple as a recipe. I’ve come across those who take pride in a certain dish and there is no way they’ll ever relinquish the secret behind their masterpiece. in fact, prying it from their fingers would be down right impossible. then there are those, who want to spread the joy of their labor and are willing to share, even if there isn’t a written down recipe because they’ve been making it so long it’s just a part of them. still, there are those who go the distance and not only do they willingly give you the recipe but they make it for you as well. I call them saints!
simply put: sharing is caring! and although I’m sure the motivation to keep things to ourselves seems pure, the bible teaches otherwise. let’s not be white knuckled but generous with what God has blessed us with! when it comes right down to it, the sharer really benefits more than they realize.
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. (Hebrews 13:16 NIV)
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. (1 Timothy 6:18-19 NIV)
Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” (Luke 6:38 NIV)
