have these words ever come out of your mouth?, “I never want to feel like this again!”
usually these are expressed after a pretty significant mistake. whether pertaining to eating or drinking too much or resentment over words spoken or an action that wasn’t the best of choices. making these mistakes once teaches us a lesson. continuing to bring ourselves to this point is witless.
I believe diving deeper into the why’s that push us to such extremes is the next logical step in an effort to not utter these words multiple times! when something pushes you closer to an action that could very well result in these words, STOP and ask these instead “what is my motivation?” it may not be so evident at first, but I guarantee the more intentional we become in finding the why’s, the less likely we are to repeat past mistakes. I, for one, do not want to be considered a fool.
As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness. (Proverbs 26:11 NLT)
