True Forgiveness

what does forgiveness look like? does it mean merely saying the words “I forgive [fill in the blank]” or just acting as if you have? does it mean forgiving but not forgetting? or only if forgiveness is warranted then it is given? or better yet, forgiving now but only to be remembered at a more advantageous time? NO, none of those are forgiveness! we are called to forgive as He has forgiven us… without condition, tossed as far as the east is from the west, never to be seen again. forgetting IS true forgiveness! is this easy? Heck No! will we ever arrive at being perfect at it this side of Heaven? Nope. but it doesn’t change the fact that we are called to do it.

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. (Colossians 3:13 NIV)

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭32‬ NIV)
