we all have those seasons when you’re just not feeling it. for whatever the reason, a funk comes over you and sometimes you feel distant from your loved ones, friends, workmates and even God. in those times, i’m thankful that the people in my life don’t give up on me and even more, i’m thankful for a Heavenly Father who still proves Himself faithful!
i know that if i hadn’t put in the time prior to funk-time (with any of the above mentioned esp Him!) i’d feel defeated and wouldn’t be able to recognize the everyday blessings given to me and the life-giving assurances He provides daily.
thank you Lord that i am able to see and feel Your Presence, even when my grip may loosen.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23
… But First
often times we hear God referred to as a crutch. not to sound naive, but don’t you think those needing crutches are thankful for them?
it’s not like it’s easy to maneuver with them, but w/o them, life would certainly be near impossible. why would you not use them?
the same holds true with God and i, for one, am thankful for Him and the support He offers! we just need to be willing to do our part! lean into Him, do your best and He’ll do the rest!
The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth. Isaiah 26:7
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23

Aussie Dave is right on!
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
a question i like to ask myself when faced with what i deem a difficult time is “what’s your measuring stick?”
when opinions or reactions are had, what are they being measured against? what makes something great vs horrible? frustrating or calming? i may look at a situation as infuriating but to another it’s a laugh. or a life changing circumstance for one, may not have the same effect on someone else.
what is good or bad is really left up to our own interpretation, our own perspective, our own situation.
so instead of trying to measure against a world that is undoubtedly lost, here’s a stick we can measure all things against: God is good! (and His love endures forever) does anything else even matter?
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:5
You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees. Psalm 119:68
i’ve met a lot of people in my years (including myself of course) that fight so hard to get somewhere or something. even to the point of being obsessed with a result that just isn’t meant to happen. doesn’t matter what it is: a job, an opportunity, kids, a certain lifestyle or status, car, relationship or mindset. don’t get stuck somewhere you’re not meant to be. although i believe Matthew 19:26, “with God all things are possible,” i like to look at it this way: with God all things WITHIN HIS WILL are possible.
get off the hamster wheel and try something different. if you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten. take a risk, what have you got to lose? He’s gonna lead you to where you need to be regardless!
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps. Proverbs 16:9
we all know the saying: “assuming makes an A_ _ out of U and ME“ well, i think it’s safe to assume most of us do it anyway. so i pose a challenge:
If you’re going to assume, try assuming the positive.
i love positive people and want to surround myself with others who can find the silver lining. it’s only when we think positively and try to spread peace instead of adding to the chaos of the situation that we’ll find true peace and happiness within ourselves.
every Action has a Consequence, it’s our Beliefs that dictate whether the consequence is positive or negative! (A+B=C)
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Matthew 5:9
Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord. They rejoice in your name all day long; they celebrate your righteousness. Psalm 89:15-16
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29
if you’re anything like me, your feelings have the potential of changing in an instant. whether it’s from shear joy to complete sadness or laughter to anger back to laughter again, we humans need to be sure to keep ourselves in check when it comes to our emotions. i’m not saying emotions are bad, because they, in fact, are an integral part of what makes us, us. but they are not too helpful when trying to make wise decisions. although feelings can be a contributing factor decisions should never be based solely on a feeling.
i am so glad i serve a Savior who is Stable, Never Changing, Patient, Full of nothing but Love and Always ready to Help His children!
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed: “Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments,
the bible says He never changes, it does not say the times never change. He is consistent. He will always be the same loving, stable, present, strong, perfect, attentive, joy-providing, complete, all-sufficient, grace-granting, peace-giving Father He always has been.
Thank you Lord for always being You in anything we come up against!
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] John 16:33 AMP
this morning i read the following sentence incorrectly:
“we need to guard our thoughts by focusing our attention on things that honor God.”
we need to guard our thoughts by focusing our attention on things that need God.
although the first is obviously true, what i read got me thinking;
we need to do things out of our comfort zone. when we do this, we show we need Him and His power is professed. we glorify Him by moving outside of ourselves and tapping into His strength!
for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Philippians 2:13
remember He isn’t the one who moves. when we wander we are the ones who lose Him. He has a much higher perspective and always knows right where we are! Lord help me to stay on Your path. it is there where i will find true happiness. i trust You!
Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:10
