when i was a kid i used to love doing dot-to-dot’s. the excitement mounted as the picture became more and more comprehendible with every number. so it’s no wonder i’m always trying to connect the dots in scenarios of my life. trying to make sense of what i’m doing or what the purpose is for each season or what my next step is.
i’ve learned not to try to figure out what the Lord is doing because, honestly, we can never be sure. but what i do do, is walk every day looking and anticipating what the Lord has for me. i look and wait expectantly for Him to connect my dots!
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. Psalm 62:5
yesterday at church, the Lord spoke the words “just hold on” into my spirit. and today this:
“Patience in the Process
The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
I want to encourage you today to be patient with the process God might have you in. It’s so important to recognize the difference between the time you are anointed for something and the time God appoints for you to walk in it.
Think of Joseph. He had dreams as a teenager of being in a position of leadership, yet the journey to get there took much longer than he might have expected. But God was faithful to him, and in the same way, you can believe and trust that God will be faithful to you!”
(above in quotes from Christine Caine, First Things First)
thank you Lord for always being faithful and knowing exactly what we need right when we need it. and for creating me with a God shaped hole eager to hear from you!
here’s what keeps me motivated: i don’t live to please man, i live to please God! (do i fail? well of course the answer is a resounding “yes,” this is why i need a Savior).
remember Noah? when God calls us to His purpose, it doesn’t matter if we receive praise or criticism, do it! He will provide all we need, no matter what others think!
Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe. Proverbs 29:25
But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” 2 Chronicles 15:7
… this simple truth found in Psalm 28:11?
“The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.”
if you’ve answered yes and you’re not feeling His Strength in your life nor are you possessing His Peace, have you asked yourself “why?”?
i’ve been there … and for me, it was because i was expecting His strength to strengthen me where He didn’t want me strong. and i was looking for peace in an area i needn’t. i needed to adjust my focal point. we must be in His will to experience the fullness of what He has for us.
if you’re searching, are you asking the right questions?
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. Psalm 34:17
… But First
sitting where i sit on certain issues in the church, some find it silly that i’ll even step foot in a building that stands behind the teaching i’m going to hell solely because of my sexuality. since the Lord changed my mind on the whole “i’m an abomination” thing, i’m able to sit in a church service and really listen to what the Lord wants to tell me when the lesson is being taught.
it’s healthy to think outside the box, not to just listen and do what the preacher says, just because he’s the preacher. let the Lord weigh in! seek His Spirit within you and let Him reveal what you need to be taught. just remember, as long as your thoughts always come back to Christ and His love for us and how He wants us to grow in Him without condemnation, you’re golden!
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God. You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. Romans 8:1-11
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26-28
this has been a constant prayer of mine: Lord, i want to make a difference for You!
each new day brings with it opportunities to choose how you’ll represent Him. do your actions, words, decisions and thoughts bring Him glory or cause people to question whom you serve?
i will, one day, make a big splash in the world but not if i don’t do it today!
In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, Ephesians 1:11
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Psalm 32:8

we all have those seasons when you’re just not feeling it. for whatever the reason, a funk comes over you and sometimes you feel distant from your loved ones, friends, workmates and even God. in those times, i’m thankful that the people in my life don’t give up on me and even more, i’m thankful for a Heavenly Father who still proves Himself faithful!
i know that if i hadn’t put in the time prior to funk-time (with any of the above mentioned esp Him!) i’d feel defeated and wouldn’t be able to recognize the everyday blessings given to me and the life-giving assurances He provides daily.
thank You Lord that i am able to see and feel Your Presence, even when my grip may loosen.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23
… But First
often times we hear God referred to as a crutch. not to sound naive, but don’t you think those needing crutches are thankful for them?
it’s not like it’s easy to maneuver with them, but w/o them, life would certainly be near impossible. why would you not use them?
the same holds true with God and i, for one, am thankful for Him and the support He offers! we just need to be willing to do our part! lean into Him, do your best and He’ll do the rest!
The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth. Isaiah 26:7
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23

Aussie Dave is right on!
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
a question i like to ask myself when faced with what i deem a difficult time is “what’s your measuring stick?”
when opinions or reactions are had, what are they being measured against? what makes something great vs horrible? frustrating or calming? i may look at a situation as infuriating but to another it’s a laugh. or a life changing circumstance for one, may not have the same effect on someone else.
what is good or bad is really left up to our own interpretation, our own perspective, our own situation.
so instead of trying to measure against a world that is undoubtedly lost, here’s a stick we can measure all things against: God is good! (and His love endures forever) does anything else even matter?
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:5
You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees. Psalm 119:68
